We have an immediate
opening for a postdoc to participate in experiments designed to freeze
and manipulate ultra-fast dynamics with intense femtosecond laser pulses
(download summary below). Candidates should have experience in one or
more of the following areas:
- Intense, ultra-fast lasers and chirped pulse
amplification,
- Pulse shaping,
- Genetic feedback algorithms and coherent control
and/or
- Coulomb explosion imaging.
The position will remain open until filled.
We have several positions open for
graduate students to work on research projects exploiting intense femtosecond
laser pulses. One or possibly two students are needed immediately
to participate in experiments on campus designed to freeze and manipulate
ultra-fast dynamics with intense femtosecond laser pulses (download summary
below). We anticipate new opportunities beginning Fall 2004 and/or Spring
2005 Semesters for students to participate in experiments at Lawrence
Livermore National Labs designed to study the physics and applications
of compact ion accelerators driven by petawatt lasers.
Undergraduate students play an important
role in our program. Typically, we employ two or three during the summer
and one or two during the academic year. We also have positions available
for students to work on their Honors Theses or to gain laboratory
experience
for credit.
